1/19/12

Three men conquered the elements. One conquered land, the other water, and the other air. One is attempting to high wire in Yosmite, and he has been training since the 90's. Another is trying to make the longest dive in a blue hole in the Bahamas. One man is attempting to sky dive from 100,000 feet. The diver is willing to risk it because he says that it would be the best way to die if you are doing what to you love. All of these men were able to it. The man who dived 100,00 feet stated about how beautiful it was from the top of the world. The climber and diver expect to take their accomplishments farther. Red bull has run several world record attempts featuring bikes, etc. Aaron Rodgers also excelled in sports through out his school years. When the end of college came, Rodgers entered the NFL Draft. He wasn't highly picked in the draft, and he was actually 24th picked.

1/18/12

A 27 year old autistic man is using his iPad for communicating. He hasn't been able to communicate for his whole life. However, the first time he used the iPad, he told his doctor about his brother. He can order his food at a diner all by himself. The iPad has given autistic children this window of speech. Jake is autistic but is also a math and science genius. He ended taking college level courses at age 8. He would give presentations to researchers twice his age. He used the money received from the presentation to convert his room into his own "lab". Jake and his Physics teacher published an article into a scientific journal. He is the youngest person to publish in a journal like such. Jake is known by everyone and is constantly called to help other students study. He is expected to graduate undergraduate at age 14.

Cody Rye had a dream to play football all his life. Unfortunately Cody was in a car accident, and he was disabled from the waist down. His cousin and his grandparents were also in the car, but they were not affected to this degree. The passengers in the other car did not make it, and unfortunately died. At the age of 5, doctors told Cody's parents that he will never walk again. With lots of rehabilitation Cody regained some muscles in his legs, but remained to be disabled in the ankles and feet. In high school, Cody became a line backer in the JV football team. He never played offense though. In his Senior Year, Cody played two offensive plays. One of these plays was the final play of the game.

Ashley was born with a disease where her lungs fill with fluid. Paco was boxing for the championship in Philie, and he was beaten into a coma. In a couple days he was determined brain dead. That is when doctors asked if Paco's family if they were willing to donate Paco's organs. They agreed to this, and his organs were given to multiple people. His lungs were given to Ashley, and this saved her life. His heart was given to Alexis, and his liver was given to a swimmer. The organ receivers all came to meet Paco's family face to face, and all were extremely well behaved towards the family. For the cost of Paco's life, came the lives of four others.

Patrick Willis bought a 5 million dollar home, and it was a huge difference from his double wide trailer. He and his siblings were constantly abused by their father. Patrick excelled in sports like basketball and football. When Patrick was 8 years old, he picked up a full time job in the cotton fields. His dad would often take his earned money for drugs such as weed and alcohol. Patrick was a line backer at Central High School, and won multiple awards with sports. However, this abuse continued until Patrick contacted his guidance teachers at his high school. Child Protection Service took the children away from Patrick's father, and they were taken in by Patrick's basketball coach. For Patrick this way his chance to be a kid again, since he never experienced having to support his family. When he graduated high school, he was taken by a university. He started all 13 games of his freshmen year.

One million people attempt suicide in the U.S. each year. Every year 4000 teens also attempt to commit suicide. Jordan was very successful in high school. However, he pressured himself to much in sports despite being extremely good at his sports. He would constantly win MVP awards. However he would drink, and this disappointed his parents. He locked himself in his room and jumped out the window. He fell at 50 mph, but survived. He broke multiple bones, and had to go through rehab to be able to do basic activities. This still didn't stop Jordan from graduating, and he made a goal to walk through graduating. Now Jordan travels around the country in order to tell his story.

A 45 year old man named Tim Brown was given a bone marrow stem cell treatment. He was tested positive for AIDS as well as Leukemia. However, this bone marrow stem cell treatment cured him completely of these diseases, but the Leukemia came back within a year. This was solved by another treatment from the same donor. Tim Brown lives in Berlin, Germany. Also, he only suffered from minor brain damage. This damage is quickly recovering though, and is expected to make a full recovery. This might not be a cure for everyone, since it took this specific donor. This adaptation was supposed to come from people that adapted from the black plague.
